The New York Rangers selected Alexei Cherepanov in the first round, 17th overall in the 2007 draft.
He died today in the third period of a KHL game. He collapsed on the bench and died a short time later. He was 19 years old.
I remember Cherepanov so well from the draft and knew he was going to be a great player. My prayers go out to his family and friends.
