According to a source of ESPN, Gonchar will need surgery on his shoulder and could be out 4-6 months. The team is expected to make an announcement on Tuesday.
To me, this is devastating news. Gonchar is one of the elite defensemen of the NHL and this length of time out could hurt the team. David Koci better get a beating from the Pens every time we verse him and the Lightning.
