Pens pull off great win against Sharks.

The Pens came out strong and kept the momentum throughout the game last night against San Jose. The Pens won in a shootout 2-1. Fleury was great in net, turning aside 36 shots. Bill Thomas got his first goal as Penguin to get us into the shootout. Crosby scored the only shootout goal to give the Pens a victory.
Even after San Jose scored in the third, the Pens seemed to come out stronger and battling. This was a great win for the Pens and hopefully leads to more. If we treat every game like last night's and approach it in the same manner, the Pens can't do that badly!

Tough test against Sharks.

The Pens will face the San Jose Sharks tonight. No break from their most recent game and loss against Detroit, the Pens face another one of the best teams in the league with the Sharks. The Pens know that the first goal is important to get in most games, but with the Sharks it is almost vital. The Pens can not have a weak period like most games this season and they must come out prepared to battle in this game if they want the victory. The Pens have to create chances and make good on them against the Sharks! Creating chances against the Sharks will be a tough task, but it will be crucial for a victory.

Gonchar cleared to play.

Sergei Gonchar has been cleared to play after recovering from shoulder surgery. He will not be in the lineup tonight against the Sharks though. Therrien says it is up to Gonchar when he will return. Gonchar will see how it feels and make that decision. He wants his timing to be ready and he does want to make sure that he will not hurt his shoulder again.

Max Talbot turns 25 today and would love a victory as a gift. His mom also asked him to score a goal in tonight's game! Happy Birthday Max!

Canadiens interested in Whitney?

The Montreal Canadiens seem to be interested in Ryan Whitney. What they would be willing to give up to get him is not known. There has been a lot of trade talk consisting Ryan Whitney. There seems to be a lot of teams interested in Whitney as well. I never know what to think about trade rumors, some seem to be so off the wall, but then no one was expecting the Pens to land Hossa at last season's trade deadline. Trades are usually just so unpredictable.
However, I really don't think we should deal Whitney. I know that so far he has not been that great, but he just came back from his injury that caused him to miss the first half of the season and I do believe that he is a vital part to our team.

Gonchar to meet with doctor tomorrow.

Sergei Gonchar says he has been feeling better with his injury and hopes that the prognosis the doctors give him tomorrow will be just as good.

The Penguins say that Fedotenko has yet to be cleared for contact, so much for the story that was out about him possibly playing tomorrow night. He was still wearing the red 'no contact' jersey today at practice.

Zigomanis is ahead of his recovery time from his surgery. The estimated time was 4-6 months. He has not idea when he will return, but the Pens would most likely have to make it deep into the playoffs before Zigomanis probably returns to the lineup. If that does not happen, Zigomanis said he really wants to come back to the Pens. He is a free agent after this season.

Fedotenko could play Wednesday, Gonchar close to returning.

It is believed that Ruslan Fedotenko has been cleared to play and will be a game-time decision for Wednesday's game.
Also, some have heard that Gonchar is less than 10 days away from returning to the lineup.

Curry named Reebok/AHL player of the week.

Wilkes Barre Scranton Baby Pens goaltender, John Curry was named the player of the week for last week as he had a perfect record going 3-0-0 in his appearances. He stopped 80 of 84 shots and continued his personal win streak to 8 games.
